Louis Vuitton Show May 2018

8 bags that rocked Fashion Cruise 2019

Oct 16, 2018

The Cruise 2019 Fashion Shows saw the most powerful names in the fashion industry offering us unique performance.

This year Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Gucci have all dropped their anchor in France. They have successively presented their collection in Paris, Chantilly, Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Arles.

To understand which bags were the most popular on social media, we trained our artificial intelligence to detect and recognize more than 200 bags from a panel of fashion influencers and hashtags. We applied our state-of-the-art image recognition technology on the Cruise social media pictures. The results then showed the 8 most popular bags of the Cruise 2019 in terms of reach and reposts.

Here is a little sneak peek about the bags that performed the most at the Cruise Show outside the catwalk, by order of appearance.

CHANEL CRUISE 2019 : CLASSIC AND WHITE CAMERA BAGS

As always, Chanel took the game very seriously and reconstructed an actual cruise ship behind the Grand Palais nave. The collection revisited the sailor codes with an 80s flavored twist.

As usually after a Chanel show, many bags have been reposted — a special mention goes to the « La Pausa » canteen bag.

Most of the guests stayed classical and wore the iconic models. The two most popular on Instagram were the classic bag and a white camera bag. The latest had an outstanding reach thanks to the Korean singer Kim Go-eu which had many photo reposts.

DIOR CRUISE 2019 : SADDLE AND JADIOR BAGS

Diorodeo took place at the heart of the royal stable of the Chantilly domain. The show was opened by 8 escaramuzas, the females mexican rodeo riders who inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri the theme of this collection. Once again, this season is an ode to women and to their multiples femininities.

Outside the catwalk, guests showed up their favorites models. The saddle bag, which made its impressive come back during the last Fall Winter show, has been sported by some celebrities, including Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things. Jadior bag has also been very popular on social media thanks to the numerous reposts of Chiara Ferragni and Aimee Song pictures.

LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE 2019 : MINI-MALLE AND TWIST BAGS

After having invested the garden of the Niterói contemporain museum in Rio and the Miho one at Kyoto, Nicolas Ghesquière chose to show his collection in Saint-Paul-de-Vence at the Fondation Maeght.

Between the two showers, the Creative Director showcased modern silhouettes that referenced the 60s, which is when the Foundation was built. A dialogue between the silhouettes and the Miro and Giacometti pieces of art flourished in the Foundation’s garden.

Similarly to the other shows, many different models have been glimpsed at but the two most popular on social media after the show were the Mini-Malle and the Twist.

GUCCI CRUISE 2019 : SYLVIE BAG AND GUCCY PRINT

Alessandro Michele, Gucci Creative Director, chose the “Promenade des Alyscamps”, a Roman necropolis located just outside the city of Arles.

Some crackle of fire erupted from the middle of the pit and the show began. There were 114 looks, worn by men and women, melting macabre and playful styles.

If the Sylvie bag has been particularly popular around the show, we also noticed the presence of the GUCCY print on many different bags models.
